THE IMPORTANCE OF A VISION

Interior, color, style and feel. Often the renovation or construction project starts with just this – a vision of something new. At the same time, this can be the most difficult thing, putting a feeling or thought on paper. An interior designer's task is, among other things, to help in that process. Together, your thoughts and visions are put together with the hotel's graphic profile, budget and target group of guests.

The renovation and construction project just begins with a vision of something new. The old will be upgraded and new colors and shapes will take their place. At the same time, this can be the most difficult thing, putting a feeling or thought on paper. Interior, color, style and feel. What makes a room feel modern? Why do some rooms give a city pulse while others breathe mountains and wilderness. An interior designer helps in this process and together thoughts and visions are put together with the hotel's graphic profile.

VISION
As in many creative processes, it is often most effective to start completely freely and not think about limitations. Thinking outside the box is something many people talk about and it is about this very thing, seeing possibilities and not limitations. Ideas that initially seem unattainable can lead to something feasible, but must first be born in a permissive creativity.

It may feel unfamiliar to let go of control over costs and practical solutions, but all that comes later in the process. If you get stuck in all the problems and obstacles that can possibly exist, you don't give room for the new and untested.

FILTER
John Cleese has told how Monthy Python created many of his immortal sketches out of creative chaos. But that chaos also had its limits. A shorter time was set up where all ideas and crazy thoughts were encouraged. When time ran out, they then moved on to picking the best ideas to process these into something concrete. In the same way, you can work on developing new interior design concepts. Visioning must at some point turn into a process where the best thoughts are made concrete. You have to see how the ideas that have bubbled up can become a reality. It is also important to understand when to leave the creative brainstorming phase. It is not effective to jump back into visioning unless you absolutely have to.

The Filtering phase is also a creative process. But in a different way. Now the fantastic but unfeasible ideas must be creatively made feasible. Say someone hatched an idea for a living stream in the hallway. Maybe it's not feasible but are there carpets that give that feeling? Can speakers fill the corridor with a rippling sound? An experienced decorator can help with the choice of colors and materials while taking the practical aspects into account. Some ideas can perhaps be implemented both practically and financially, but at the same time create an impossible working situation for cleaning and other staff. All aspects must be considered for best results.

CONCRETIZE
After the vision and the crazy ideas have been filtered into something that can actually be implemented, the mission becomes concrete. A proposal is developed with dimensioned drawings, materials and color samples. In collaboration with the decorator, the proposal is processed where you replace, add and subtract until a final project description is on the table.
